MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM
YOUTH WORSHIP
EVCC has moved to a new campus about six
years ago. This multipurpose room (gymnasium/youth worship center) is
the first addition to an already large facility. The 3200 member
congregation is still growing on the north east corner of Normal.
Designed by AR&D Architects and built by PJ Hoerr, the new addition is a
substantial structure built of CMU's and brick.
The church staff includes a full time
technical director. Jordan Audio Consultants worked with the
"in-house" technician to prepare system designs that helped to
create a systemalogical approach to all the various systems in the building.
Because the main auditorium uses EAW speakers and Crown amplifier we choose
to follow this same pattern in the MPR.
The system includes four discrete monitor
mixes, a separate sub woofer mix and two mixes for effects. The
40 input mixing console includes 8 sub groups, 8 mute groups and a full
matrix.
Several components were reused from the
existing inventory of the congregation including: metal amplifier
racks, effects units, compressors, microphones, cables, two
additional powered monitor speakers, and a
pair of Barco video projectors.
The system is pre-wired to add a digital
personal monitor system, a third screen and video projector, and more
elaborate video switching. Originally four JBL 2226H 15" woofers were
being recycled from the pervious gymnasium into new custom built floor
monitors. The new technical director wanted to keep the existing
speakers for another purpose so new woofers were incorporated into the
custom floor monitors. The four monitors are "Bunker
Busters" from Concert Systems LLC.
Two input / output panels each include 16
microphone inputs, six "Speak On" monitor output jacks, a
BNC video coax output and an RJ45 jack for the future digital personal
monitor system.
